Mac Mic Group and Calmont submit planning application for circa £28.5m GDV build to rent (BTR) scheme in Anniesland

The circa £28.5m GDV residential development at the former Anniesland Job Centre site in Herschell Street will create 123 high-quality one and two-bedroom flats as well as studio apartments. The apartments will be set across a pair of five to seven-storey buildings designed by Elder & Cannon Architects.

The development will include amenity and co-working spaces, roof terraces, private landscaped courtyards, communal gardens and private balconies. It will deliver much-needed affordable and private rental apartments that are fully furnished and professionally managed.

Craig Ormond, Director at Mactaggart & Mickel, said: “We are delighted to be working with Calmont Group to develop this cleared brownfield site in the West End. The location is ideal for a high-quality, residential development that will support the local economy by bringing residential footfall to local retail and leisure without increasing car traffic.

“This exciting new project also presents a highly sustainable development opportunity. Its proximity to Anniesland rail station and public transport links along Great Western Road and Crow Road provide easy access to both the city centre and southside.

“We are looking forward to working with Calmont Group and Glasgow City Council to deliver a much needed high quality residential scheme that responds to local feedback.  We aim to not only create new homes but also encourage an improved sense of place and community in this already thriving area.”

Graham Brooker, Director at Calmont Group said “We are really excited to be working with Mactaggart & Mickel on this key development in the west end of Glasgow. Herschell Street is our third ‘Boutique BTR’ development in Glasgow and continues our strategy of delivering contemporary and affordable residential accommodation through sustainable development of brownfield sites or the re-purposing of existing commercial buildings.

With great public transport links on its doorstep, we believe that the Herschell St development will provide a positive contribution to both city-wide and local lifestyles and create well-managed rental homes in a friendly community environment.”
