Our Strategic Land team is proud to reflect on its busiest summer to date. From June to August, we exchanged on over 335 acres of land, including green and brownfield sites in London, North Somerset, the Chilterns and Wiltshire. Alongside these successes, we enjoyed hosting clients and guests at major sporting events, including The 150th Open Championship at St Andrew's and the Cinch Tennis Championships in London.
Our sponsorship of and attendance at Cheltenham Jazz Festival's headline night was likewise a fantastic experience for colleagues and clients alike.
Summer 2022 was a period of huge, energising change for us that saw Mactaggart & Mickel Group sell our Scottish housebuilding business and timber frame factory to Springfield Properties PLC in July.
As we prepare for the next round of deals and more exciting networking activities, we're looking forward to continuing to grow our family-owned business and supporting clients to make the very most of their land.
Here are just some of our summer highlights.
Summer deals
In June, the SE team negotiated the purchase of a 66-acre site in Crayford, London Borough of Bexley, led by Conor Roberts and Ken Hopkins; this constitutes our largest freehold investment to date. In that same month, Michael Gooch of the SW team agreed a deal to promote 183 acres at Backwell and Flax Bourton in North Somerset.
In July, Tom Harris signed an agreement to promote 30 acres located on the western edge of Cricklade, Wiltshire, for our South West Region. Nick Rennie also secured a 56-acre greenfield site in the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for the South East team.
Hospitality Mactaggart & Mickel style
Golf was a star feature in our summer calendar, with the team hosting a competition at Foxhills Country Club in Surrey, followed up by a fantastic trip to The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews for The Open Championship.
Andrew and Ross Mickel were amongst the team hosting guests at the Cinch Tennis Championships held at Queens Tennis Club in West Kensington, London. While earlier in the year, we hosted guests at Lady Wood's in the South West and Royal Berkshire Shooting School in the South East for two separate days of clay pigeon shooting.
