Mactaggart & Mickel strategic land team secures planning consent for residential development of 55 homes, 40% of which are affordable housing, in Hallow Neighbourhood Plan.
A prime 7.4-acre site in the Worcestershire village of Hallow has been granted detailed planning permission for a residential scheme following Mactaggart & Mickel’s successful promotion of the land through Hallow Parish Council’s Neighbourhood Plan.
The site represents the third tranche, a total of more than 24 acres, that Mactaggart & Mickel’s South West England Strategic Land team has promoted in Hallow, on behalf of the landowners, to enable housebuilder Hayfield Homes to secure planning permission from Malvern Hills District Council.
Named Hayfield Grove, the development will feature 55 eco-efficient homes, including a 40% provision for affordable housing, and around 2.5-acres of new public open space, to link in with the extensive landscaped space that was created as part of the neighbouring Hayfield Meadow scheme.
Hayfield Meadow is a community of 65 homes that was completed in 2019. The 12.7-acre plot also promoted by Mactaggart & Mickel with planning permission secured in 2016.
Nevin Holden, Regional Manager for the South West England Strategic Land business, comments: “In partnership with the landowners, we promoted the 7.4-acre land tranche through Hallow’s Neighbourhood Plan, and, together with Hayfield Homes, gained the support of the Parish Council to achieve the planning consent.
“The land had not been allocated for development in the South Worcestershire Development Plan, but by taking the Neighbourhood Plan route we were able to create a compelling case, in consultation with local residents, for the site’s potential to house a new community built to high design and eco standards.
“This work comes on the back of two previous site promotions we have undertaken in Hallow. Mactaggart & Mickel were responsible for promoting the site of Hayfield Meadow, and a further 4.2-acre phase 2 site in the village built out by Piper Homes as ‘Hallow Leas’ and completed earlier this year.
Nevin adds: “Successfully securing planning consent on three sites in this semi-rural area of Worcestershire is a testament to the close partnership we have forged with the landowners and the local parish council with the support of our planning consultant Claremont Planning.
“Most importantly, these successes are an indicator of the trust the local community has in Mactaggart & Mickel and Hayfield Homes to deliver a positive addition to Hallow in the form of much-needed new private and affordable homes, new open space for people to enjoy, and considerable net biodiversity gains.”
