Mac Mic Group launches new charitable foundation to help communities thrive

UK Land and property company, Mac Mic Group, has announced the launch of the new Mac Mic Foundation to help communities thrive.

The Mac Mic Foundation will play a vital role in the company's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, which is centred on enhancing local communities by supporting causes that deliver positive and lasting change.

Mac Mic Group has a long history spanning its 98 years of operation of supporting charities and communities across the UK.  Mac Mic Group has created the new and enhanced Foundation to go further than the company’s previous official fund, the Building Communities Fund, which was launched in 2016.  Via the Building Communities Fund (BCF), which wrapped up in mid-2022, Mac Mic Group made over 200 awards to a diverse range of charities, schools, sports teams and community groups.

Donations from the Foundation will support causes and projects that will have a lasting impact on local communities for generations to come, such as environmental projects, sports and play infrastructure, new cycle paths, and school equipment.

Unlike the Building Communities Fund, which required groups and charities to apply directly to the company for funding, the Mac Mic Foundation will proactively identify nominees to receive donations through a panel of employees, with the assistance of local partners, within the Group's regional areas of operation.

The Mac Mic Foundation will also provide employees of the Group with opportunities to give back to their local communities or chosen charities. The Foundation includes- matching of employee fundraising, an employee volunteering programme, and an annual staff nominated charity.

Andrew Mickel, Director and fourth-generation family member, comments:

"We have a long and proud history of supporting charities and communities across the UK. We're committed to making a difference, and we've been doing it for almost a century!

The launch of the Mac Mic Foundation has been well received by our employees and we're proud of their enthusiasm and passion for getting involved.

The Mac Mic Foundation Panel, made up of employees across the business, will work closely with those who know our local communities best to ensure that donations from the Foundation have a lasting impact for generations to come.

Our people will play a vital role in the work of the Foundation, and we're pleased to provide them with the opportunity to give back to their local communities and support the charities and causes closest to their hearts."

Following the sale of the company’s homebuilding division in June 2022 to Springfield Properties Plc, Mac Mic Group has focused on its future investment strategy- enhancing its private rented sector portfolio, expanding its strategic land ambitions and pursuing joint venture development opportunities across the UK.
